Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Hi! I'm Jenny.

I'm an RVN, based on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border. I am still very much clinically based, with PulseCheck Veterinary CPR Training being my dream side business.

I started my nursing journey at the young age of 15, working as a kennel maid after school. From there, I became a student Veterinary Nurse, qualifying in 2007. 

In 2012, I achieved my VN Cert ECC, which ignited my interest in emergency and critical care work.

I have worked in a variety of first opinion GP practices and a busy 24 hour hospital. This is where my passion for teaching CPR started. As we got busier, and the teams expertise increased, we took in patients whose needs were more complex and unstable on arrival. As a result, crash calls became more regular and, following on from my ECC training, I recognised the need for team training in CPR. So I started running 6 monthly training sessions with simulations and the progress I saw in the team following the training sessions was incredible.

I now locum, and I cannot believe the demand for CPR training. Every practice I visit asks for support and training, particularly with the majority of them now being smaller 1st opinion surgeries where it thankfully isn't a common occurrence. If the schedule allowed, I would try and fit a session in. But there is so much to it, so to try and fit in good quality training - in a quick half hour - just doesn't work. 

This sparked a desire to not just wing it with a quick "chuck a toy on the table and yell crash" situation. I wanted to develop a good quality course where adequate time is scheduled out to do it properly. One where ALL team members, clinical or non-clinical can be involved one way or another.

I then completed my BLS/ALS online training with The RECOVER Initiative, which allowed me to complete the in-person RECOVER Rescuer Course.

Then with a lot of time and hard work - PulseCheck Veterinary CPR Training was born. 

Outside of working as an RVN and starting this business, I'm a wife and a mother of two beautiful daughters and an owner of a very cheeky Cocker Spaniel (pictured).
